Etiquette dictates that formal birth announcements be sent to family and friends by regular postal service delivery, not email. Who wants to hang an email birth announcement on their refrigerator, anyway. Birth announcements should go to family and close friends and friends of the happy grandparents and to anyone who has already sent a gift to the new parents.
At a minimum, you should include the names of the baby and proud parents and siblings (if any) and birth statistics such as length and weight and date of birth on your birth announcements.
